Secretariat

The Secretariat is responsible for implementation of the AgResults initiative and reports to the Steering Committee. In order to fulfil its role effectively, the Secretariat develops a close working relationship with the Trustee and ongoing external evaluator. Core functions include appointment and management of pilot implementation and verification agents, sourcing new pilots and communicating results.

Project Management:

Markus Mueller

Engagement Director

Markus Mueller is the Engagement Director for the Secretariat, providing strategic oversight and facilitating access to Deloitte Global resources. He specializes  in trade and investment policy, infrastructure development, and export development. He has worked for a number of bilateral and multilateral donor organizations, including the World Bank Group (IDA, IFC, FIAS), USAID, the Asian Development Bank, and the European Commission. He has worked in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Egypt, Georgia, Jordan, Malaysia, Mozambique, Namibia, Nepal, Nigeria, Panama, South Africa, United Arab Emirates, West Bank/Gaza, and Yemen. He is PMP certified and oversees results-oriented delivery of some of Deloitte’s largest and most complex donor-funded programs. Markus has a BA in International Relations from Tufts University and an MIA in International Economic Policy from Columbia University.

Rodrigo Ortiz

Team Lead

Rodrigo Ortiz is the Team Lead for the AgResults SEcretariat. He has a degree in International Agriculture and has economic development experience in 74 countries for over 35 years. He was formerly with the World Bank where he headed a technical assistance unit developing investment promotion capacity for member countries. He has extensive experience leading World Bank, USAID, and private sector projects and has been the Program Manager for large projects in Jordan, Bolivia, Cyprus, and Pakistan. 

Justin Kosoris

Manager of the Project Management Office

Justin Kosoris has worked in Haiti, Senegal, Rwanda, Cote d'Ivoire, and Mali to develop and implement solutions to difficult challenges, with a focus on agricultural market systems and post-conflict development. He holds a master of public affairs, international specialization from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas-Austin, and a bachelor of international studies from Johns Hopkins University. He began his career as an agricultural extension agent with the United States Peace Corps in Senegal. 

 

Parasto Hamed

Field Manager

Parasto Hamed is the Field Manager for the AgResults initiative with project management responsibilities for Kenya, Uganda, and Zambia. She has a Masters in International Agriculture and Rural Development from Cornell University. She also graduated with a master's in International Development from the London School of Economics and a bachelor's in International Relations from George Mason University. She was previously managing USAID FtF projects based in Ethiopia and Uganda, and has also worked on other USAID-funded projects in Southern Africa, Egypt, Jordan, and Iraq.

 

Blythe Kladney

Communications Manager

Blythe Kladney is a communications and international development professional focused on how digital communications and international development converge to improve the lives of the world's populations. She has seven years of experience creating strategic communications and marketing strategies for international institutions, small businesses, and political organizations in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. She has developed and implemented multilevel, multimedia strategies including online editorial calendars, social media, and traditional media as well as analyzed sentiment and its effect on policies and projects across the Middle East and South Asia. She holds an M.A. in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins University's School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), where she studied Middle East Studies and American Foreign Policy and a B.A. in International Relations and Journalism from New York University.


Design Team Leads:

Kurt Dassel

Pilot Design Lead

Kurt Dassel leads the pull mechanism innovation and pilot design team. He specializes in economic competitiveness and inclusion in the emerging markets, and has led projects on open innovation as well as in various agriculture value chains in multiple geographies around the world, including Africa, Asia, the former Soviet Union, and North America. Kurt has a BA in International Political Economy from University of California, Berkeley, and a Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University.

John Cassidy

Pilot Design Specialist

John Cassidy specializes in bringing strategy and innovation to public sector and commercial organizations.  On AgResults, John works across the Pilot Design teams to drive research and business plan development.  John is a graduate of Harvard’s John F. Kennedy School of Government with a master’s degree in public policy, with a focus on international political economy.

Audrey Vaughn 

Pilot Design Specialist

Audrey Vaughn is a strategy practitioner managing projects that focus on: human centered design, systems design thinking, prize challenge and pull-mechanism design, innovative funding models (e.g., social impact bonds), international development, and behavioral economics. On AgResults, Audrey works with teams on desk and in-field research design, analysis, and project development. Ms. Vaughn holds a Masters of Public Administration from the George Washington University with a concentration in International Development and Nonprofit Management.
