Announcing the Entry of Two Companies into the Kenya Pilot

July 01, 2015

The AgResults Initiative is pleased to announce the entry of two companies as Implementers into the AgResults Kenya On-Farm Storage Pilot: A to Z Textile Mills Ltd and Ekima Engineering Works. Both Implementers have designed storage devices that allow farmers to store their grain either for their own consumption, thereby increasing food security, or for sale later when grain prices are higher. The Kenya Pilot aims to address post-harvest losses by facilitating the development, marketing and distribution of quality on-farm grain storage devices to smallholder farmers. The pilot focuses on the Rift Valley and Eastern Region. The Rift Valley produces approximately 60% (2 million MT) of Kenya’s maize, and the Eastern Region is the third largest maize-producing region in Kenya.

A To Z Textile Mills Ltd will be selling the AgroZ® Bag which was developed by the company along with its African Technical Research Centre in Arusha, Tanzania. The AgroZ® Bag is a hermetic bag, consisting of an inner hermetic liner bag and an outer woven polypropylene raffia bag. AgroZ® Bag is designed for the storage of maize, sorghum, rice, millet, dried beans and other pulses.
